Claire Danes, in an interview with ‘The Wall Street Journal’ that it was difficult for her to get accustomed to her routine mannerism and lifestyle after she trained with a choreographer and dialogue coach to master speech pattern and personality of Temple Grandin for the last year’s HBO biopic on the noted autistic for her contributions to the animal science. Grandin praised Danes stating, “If you left off title credits , no one would ever know that was Claire Danes.”

Study: Income No Predictor Of Autism, Intellectual Disability

A research study published in the journal Autism Research revealed that there is no relationship between a family’s income level and their child’s odds of having autism or intellectual disability. The study was conducted on more than 26,000 Utah children born in 1994. Using data obtained from the government, the University of Utah assessed a variety of factors including gender, parental age, ethnicity and household income. The researchers found some association with gender and parental age but there was no substantial evidence to prove the association with income.

In Twist, Charters Recruit Students With Special Needs

Long maligned for excluding kids with disabilities, a new crop of charter schools is popping up across the country specifically for those with special needs.Organizers in Nashville, Tenn. are working to establish a new school designed to ease the transition process for students with disabilities ages 17 to 22.Meanwhile, in a separate effort in New York City, educators are using the charter model to help identify low-income children with autism. Those behind the new school, which is scheduled to open in the fall, are scouring the city to find young kids who may qualify for an autism diagnosis, but have not yet been spotted.
