Congressmen Call For End To Subminimum Wage

Congressmen are trying to put an end to a policy that has been in place since the 1930′s that allows employers to pay employees with disabilities less than minimum wage. If the bill was passed it would eliminate sub-minimum wage over a three year period starting by denying any new requests. The goal of this bill is to increase equality for people living with disabilities.

Feds Allocate Millions To Train Special Educators

Teachers are receiving $19 million or more country wide for teaching students with disabilities, most, $11.5 will be given to universities. $7.7 million will go to CT, LA, ME, NE, NY, OK, OR and WY for educators in the field. This is to better prepare teachers for what they will face and how to more functionally teach.

Supreme Court To Weigh In On Medicaid Cuts

The U.S. Supreme Court is getting ready to decide whether or not the recent California Medicaid cuts violated federal law. It was designed to save the state over 700 million dollars. The state argues that only the federal government, not the courts, may make a decision to the efficiency of the rates. The Obama administration currently supports California in it’s decisions.
